The student will be able to:
-Name and describe the structures and functions of the components of the cardiovascular system.-
-Describe the structure, function and renewal of blood cells.-
-Understand the importance of changes in blood pressure whilst carrying out treatments.
The learner will be able to:
Explain the overall role of the Cardio-vascular system in relation to the other systems of the body
Define Cardiology and Haematology
Describe the structure and explain the function of the Cardio-vascular system to cover:
-Systemic circulation -Pulmonary circulation
-Portal circulation -Cardiac cycle
-Systole & Diastole -Arteries, Arterioles
-Capillaries -Veins, Venules
Describe the structure and location and explain the function of the following parts of the heart:
-Atrium, left and right 
-Ventricle, left and right
-Septum
-Aortic valve
-Mitral valve
-Bicuspid valve
-Sino-atrial node
-Pericardium
-Myocardium -Endocardium
Be able to label a diagram illustrating the above
Explain the functions of the blood to cover:
-Transport
-Defence
-Clotting
-Temperature control
Describe the structure of blood to cover:
-The different blood cells: Erythrocytes, Leucocytes, Platelets
-The different blood groups: A, B, AB, O, Rhesus - / +
Define blood pressure from a practical view only to include high and low blood pressure.
Describe the following diseases and disorders:
-Angina -Anemia (Sickle cell and Pernicious)
-High and low blood pressure -Deep Vein Thrombosis
-Leukemia
Identify the position on a diagram of the main blood vessels of the body
